Modern Slavery Statement
Man with Van Mill Hill Modern Slavery Commitment
Man with Van Mill Hill is committed to conducting business in a fair, ethical and transparent manner. We recognise that modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour and exploitation are serious crimes and fundamental violations of human rights. This Modern Slavery Statement explains the steps we take to prevent these abuses within our own operations and throughout our supply chains.
We operate as a local moving and transport service provider and, although our business is relatively small, we understand that every organisation has a responsibility to be vigilant and to help eliminate modern slavery in all its forms. We expect the same standards from everyone we work with, including suppliers, subcontractors and other business partners.
Zero-Tolerance Policy
Man with Van Mill Hill has a zero-tolerance policy towards modern slavery and human trafficking. We do not knowingly engage with any individual or organisation involved in forced labour, debt bondage, servitude, child labour or any form of exploitation. Any evidence or credible suspicion of such practices will result in immediate investigation and, where appropriate, termination of contracts or working relationships.
All employees, casual workers and contractors engaged by Man with Van Mill Hill are required to work voluntarily and are free to leave their employment in line with applicable notice periods. We do not retain original identity documents, nor do we charge recruitment fees or impose unreasonable financial penalties. Wages are paid in accordance with legal requirements and agreed terms.
Supply Chain Standards and Supplier Audits
Our services depend on a range of suppliers, including vehicle hire companies, fuel providers, equipment suppliers and, on occasion, subcontracted drivers or porters. We seek to work only with suppliers and partners who share our commitment to combating modern slavery.
We communicate our expectations clearly and require suppliers to confirm that they comply with all relevant labour, human rights and anti-slavery laws. Where appropriate, we carry out proportionate checks and due diligence on new suppliers and subcontractors before entering into agreements.
Man with Van Mill Hill reserves the right to audit or review suppliers where there is a risk of modern slavery or where concerns have been raised. These audits may include requests for policies, records of right-to-work checks, details of recruitment practices and evidence of compliance measures. If a supplier is unable or unwilling to provide adequate assurance, we may suspend or end the relationship.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
We encourage anyone connected with Man with Van Mill Hill, including workers, suppliers and customers, to report concerns about modern slavery, human trafficking or unethical labour practices. Reports may relate to our own operations, our supply chain or the activities of any third party associated with our services.
Concerns can be raised verbally or in writing to a manager or senior representative of Man with Van Mill Hill. We take all reports seriously and will investigate them promptly and sensitively. Individuals raising genuine concerns will not suffer retaliation or detrimental treatment as a result of speaking up in good faith.
Where appropriate, and especially if criminal conduct is suspected, we will cooperate with law enforcement agencies and other relevant authorities. We will also support and signpost any individuals who may be at risk of exploitation to appropriate support channels.
Training, Awareness and Continuous Improvement
We seek to ensure that those working for and with Man with Van Mill Hill understand the risks of modern slavery and how to identify and respond to them. Key staff involved in recruitment, supplier management and operations are made aware of our policy and the signs of exploitation, such as withholding of documents, restriction of movement, unusual debt arrangements or evidence of intimidation.
We are committed to improving our processes in line with evolving best practice. Where we identify gaps or weaknesses in our controls, we will take corrective action, which may include revising procedures, enhancing due diligence, increasing training or strengthening contractual requirements.
Annual Review and Governance
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed at least once every year by the leadership of Man with Van Mill Hill. The annual review considers changes in our business activities, updates to legislation, emerging risks in our sector and feedback from employees, suppliers and other stakeholders. Following each review, we may update this statement and our internal procedures to ensure they remain effective and proportionate.
We are committed to maintaining transparency about the steps we take to prevent modern slavery and to holding ourselves and our partners to high ethical standards. This statement represents our ongoing commitment to protect the rights and dignity of all people connected with our business.
